Managing Director, Tony Passmore, last week (09/05/14) appeared on the Radio Humberside breakfast show as the local home improvements expert to discuss the effects of the ‘cash in hand’ economy on bona fide business following a survey that said over 50% of people have paid cash in hand to a builder at some stage.
Tony explained that paying cash in hand gives the consumer no protection as in such cases building and planning regulations are rarely followed as well as typically being no insurance or guarantee in place. Also that the cash in hand economy didn't contribute to the wider economy through non-payment of income taxes.
Tony also voiced his backing to the Federation of Master Builders campaign to reduced VAT from 20% to 5% on home repairs and renovation.
Tony's 5 minute aire time discussion can be found via the below link - skip to 1 hour 46 minutes to listen. We are working on attaining a copy of the interview as the 'listen again' facility via the BBC website is only available for 7 days.
